[ 埔里 ] 廣興紙寮 - 現代的手感紙
Japanese hand-made paper. After the Japanese occupation era, this place became an important place for making hand-made papers to be exported to other countries.
It was definitely very hot that day. We were almost dried up walking from the parking area to the factory.
The paper factory also has an archieve for the different paper made and this place just looks amazing.
To see the factory, you'll need to follow the guide (free guided tour). This "curtain" of papers are made of very intersting materials (some are on the EU list but not on the US list). Some pieces of paper here also has some interesting ingredients (eg. Elephant's poo). But of course you wouldn't smell it.
The second stop were to see some of the common ingredients used to make these paper.
The paper ingredients in the making.
Process of making pieces of hand-made paper from the watery mix.
Looks not much difference from here but when you look closely, all these hand-made paper have different "elements" in it.
Lots of easy DIY (Do-it-yourself) things here. These are faster to make. If you want to try out the paper-process, you can do it here too (but it'll definitely take more time).
The process of transferring the printing from the blocks to the paper.
Large areas for DIYs.
After the tour, we immediately opted for trying the "paper food".
These edible pieces of paper having a thin layer of filling (eg. caramel, chocolate, etc.) and some very paper-ish texture.
